Kunstallationists Provide Unique Valentine's Day Gifts to the 'Burbs in Upcoming Art Show
For Immediate Release
January 29, 2010
After a brief hiatus since their last show, the duo known as "The Kunstallationists" are back, hoping to shake up the notion of art in the suburbs.
Once again, commandeering a cafe, Cara Michelle Smith and Andrew Tolentino will transform Dunn Bros. Coffee Shop in Addison into an art gallery for the Valentine's Day Is... art show and extravaganza on Friday, February 12. Complete with new works from local talent, live music by the Effinay's and supplies to create hand-made V-day cards, this is an exciting pre-V-Day opportunity for those looking for something more than stuffed animals and chocolate this year.
Artist and co-founder of the photography blog, Photopol.us, Ange Fitzgerald will also be on site, shooting "Anti V-Day" portraits. Selling custom-made jewelry from her line, Katie Dale-Harris of Katherine Kouture is donating a portion of her proceeds to Breast Cancer Research.
All participating artists have been given the task of creating original pieces inspired by the phrase, "Valentine's Day is..." Whether cynical or romantic, each creation in this show will be a unique, visual response to February 14th. Each piece is, of course, for sale and could make for a nice alternative to red and pink retail.
This show marks the Kunstallationists' one-year anniversary as art coordinators for this Addison establishment, and they are aspiring to bring more local art to everyday places throughout the Metroplex.
Valentine's Day Is... begins at 8:00 PM on Friday, February 12.
Committed and tentatively participating artists include:
Daniel Perez, Corey Godfrey, Desiree Espada, Molly Hagler, Drew Williams, Hal Samples, Frank Campagna, Michelle Johnson, Rosalinda Gomez, Erica Felicella, Lorene Herrera, Kasumi Chow, Katie Dale-Harris, Richard Ross, Melisa Oporto, Ange Fitzgerald, Cara Michelle Smith and Andrew Tolentino
